Just so it's known, this place is still missed. RIP to *the* Chicago Deep Dish experience. Pizza will never be the same...

Closes tomorrow 1/15/22 after 56 years in business. I've been going for 35 of those years. This place IS pizza. Through the years it has changed hands and the menu offerings have changed dramatically (anyone remember the homemade zucchini sticks of the 80s and 90s #yum), but what stayed PHENOMENAL has always been the pizza. I don't even eat sausage but I got it on the pizza every time because the garlic from it soaked into the pizza and made it out of this world. Perfectly pan, thick cheese, amazing crust, it was a premium experience. With its 500 year old, floor to ceiling antiques, unique ambiance, and outstanding pizza, Gullivers on Howard is going out a legend to the Chicago pizza scene. Sorry, there is nothing else like it. I miss it already.

As you surely know by now, this place will be sorely missed. If you are trying to get in on the last 3 days they're open good luck.

In a nutshell: this place is a chicago secret. their pan pizza is my favorite chicago pizza. Skip the Other "famous" greasy, overrated, local pizza joints and eat here. Better quality, service, and of course- better pizza. Please keep in mind however, If little Knick knacks give you anxiety this is not the place for you! The location itself is very eclectic and there's all kinds of antiques on every surface of the place. Walls, bathrooms, literally everywhere. Don't let the strange decor distract you from this place!

This place was great. We sat on the patio which was a fantastic decision. It's got the exact vibe you want out of an old school chicago pizza place. We ordered the deep dish pan pizza. It's definitely one of the best deep dishes in the city by far. This is a place everyone should try while in Chicago. For the atmosphere and the amazing deep dish. The service was great as well. I will definitely be back!

A classic for Chicagoland... and for a reason. Memorable decor makes it worth a visit. Outstanding side patio with gate, too, another great reason to show up not just order takeout/delivery. Their pizza is really great. However, they make a decent just-about-anything. Never been there where someone at my table was disappointed, even though it's really their pizza (both thin and pan) that really shine. I like their sandwiches and salads. Soups are worth ordering too. We've had some excellent wait staff lately, too. Friendly atmosphere, TVs in the bar area which has table seating also. If you need something in this part of the metro area, you can't go wrong for any size group from 1-15.

I ordered in from the Gulliver's on Howard Street in Chicago last night. I ordered the salmon sandwich with grilled vegetables which the whole dinner was FABULOUS! Compliments to the CHEF! Also, I would like to thank the hostess, Heidi, as she was kind enough to make sure our order was perfect. Thanks Heidi and you are very kind and considerate! Kathy from Skokie

On a pleasant Saturday during the lockdown, I asked my Missus, "Why don't we do something different today? Instead of going to the same old carryout joints close to home, wouldn't it be fun to pick up din-din from our old neighborhood fave?" We drove into the city (well ... just a few inches across the Evanston border), parked in front of Gulliver's, donned our face masks, and went inside to place our order. Seeing the familiar antique-laden décor was comforting, even with the dining rooms closed. While our order was being prepared, we took a nostalgic stroll through the 'hood and past the house where we once lived. Upon returning, our order was expertly packaged and ready to go. I had Gulliver's Italian Salad, prepared with three kinds of shredded cheese, anchovies, thinly sliced salami and pepperoni, pepperoncini, black olives, onions, and green peppers. There was more romaine lettuce than anything else, but the salad was huge and accompanied by their house-made Italian dressing. My Missus ordered chicken breast Vesuvio, which came with roasted potatoes and a house salad. This, too, was a very generous portion. Garlic bread and Italian bread were included. Our meals were closer in caliber to neighborhood diner than authentic trattoria, nonetheless everything was fairly good. Gulliver's is best known for their pizza and sandwiches. Based on our experiences over the years, those continue to be the kitchen's strong points. Until the dining rooms and patio reopen, you can phone in your order and choose pickup or delivery.

While I love the pizza here (especially the deep dish) and the decor is awesome, it makes me a little sad going here. The antiques have been scaled back quite a bit and what does remain has price tags attached. So, if you're coming for dinner and you just love the antique chandelier hanging over your table and you have $600-$3000 burning a hole in your pocket, you can totally buy it! Same for the statues and the metal decorative stuff. There was an ornamental brass thing on the booth above my boyfriend's head...$75. Could be all yours! Our server was awesome! Very friendly! When we commented on the dwindling antiques, he explained to us that the original plan was for the business to be sold as-is, but when there weren't any interested buyers, they embarked on this quest to sell the antiques for whoever was interested in buying them, while keeping the restaurant open. He said they still plan to stay around for the time being, but as soon as someone purchases the building, it'll be for the purposes of demolition as the current building is in dire need of repairs. The bar area and the middle dining room are open. The second dining room is still fully functional, but our server said they may not be using that area much long or reserving it exclusively for a party room. So, it sounds like Gulliver's is sort of in limbo between keeping the restaurant open, while trying to sell antiques and decor until that buyer comes along. Our food was great! On Friday nights after 9pm, all thin crust pizza is half price. My boyfriend saw that offer and I was hesitant (after all, who comes to Gulliver's for anything besides deep dish!?!) but I agreed to it. We had a salami and spinach pizza with the 3 cheese blend (mozzarella, Monterrey jack, and cheddar) and that cheese mix was delicious!!! My boyfriend has 2 Manhattans, both of which he enjoyed very much! We also had an order of potato skins...8 potato halves with bacon and then melted cheese on top. Yummy!! Overall, I would gladly come back to Gulliver's while they're around. The service is great! The pizza is outstanding! And the eclectic environment makes for an interesting dining experience.

First off I want to give a shout out to Janice!! She is the sweetest waitress ever. She give me the specials right off the bat. Decided to take her advice and order a pan pizza. I'm glad I did it was amazing. Their half off deal on Thursday evening was awesome. $2.50 domestic beer and half off an x-large pizza. I can't wait to some back with more friends to try their other menu items.
